Cats of Japan

It’s not like I go out hunting for cats to take photos of… but here are some cats from Japan.

A black cat sitting in the sun on a stone floor, looking over its shoulder, beside two bamboo lanterns with drilled holes, a reed screen and a red-painted railing, with bare trees beyond.
Veranda Cat
A fluffy cream cat with dark brown ears, face and legs lying in the corner of a plywood box, eyes half shut and front legs stretched out.
Cornered
A black-and-white cat asleep in the sun on a worn brown wooden bench, one white front leg stretched out over the edge, with snow and a glass window behind.
Sunbathing
Four cats in an overgrown garden, a tabby on a low wall in the foreground and a cream, a white-and-tabby and a black-and-white cat eating from dishes below, with a patterned bag beside the wall and tiled roofs beyond.
Feeding Time
A white cat with tabby patches on its head, back and tail, wearing a black patterned bandana, sitting in profile by a glass door next to a wire doormat.
Bandana
A brown tabby cat lying stretched out on its side on grey and white mosaic paving outside a shop, legs out front and back.
Pavement Stretch
A black cat standing on its hind legs with its front paws on a sloping concrete wall lit orange by the low sun, looking up, on a path strewn with dry leaves.
Wall Climber
A pale lynx-point cat with tabby stripes on its face and legs dozing on a black wooden railing, front paws crossed and claws showing, by a wicker chair and a sign reading 6名様用.
Eyes Closed
A cartoon orange and white cat with half-closed eyes and a frown, sitting on a red Y!mobile sign on a building wall, with a railing and a bicycle in the corner.
Grumpy Mascot
Rows of white maneki-neko figures with red ears, red collars and gold bells, each with a paw raised, crowded onto wooden shelves, with two tiny ones perched on the raised paw of a larger cat in the middle.
Beckoning Cats
A room lit blue, with the kanji 猫猫 in glowing neon on a stone-effect wall and a large TV showing a tabby cat lying in the grass.
Neko Neko Inn
A handmade dark blue cat figure covered in tiny pale dots, with blue eyes, pink ears and nose and its front paws reaching out, lying on a curved wooden shelf.
Spotty Figurine
A Karel Čapek Earl Grey tea bag illustrated with a black cat in a crown holding a sceptre over a teacup, next to a small ceramic tabby-and-white cat lying on its back on a dark wooden table.
Earl Grey Cat
A long-haired smoky grey Maine Coon with tufted ears lying on a pale wooden floor between chair legs, head turned to the left, with cat-portrait wallpaper behind.
Maine Coon Mane
A fluffy smoky grey Maine Coon with tufted ears and amber eyes, tucked up under a wooden chair and staring at the camera.
Under the Chair
Two painted cardboard cats in kimono, a black one in blue and a white one in pink with a crown and a fan, standing behind potted cherry blossom branches priced at 2,200 yen at a florist's.
