Beg Button - Part 3: Adding Walk/Stop Lights
This is the third post about the EMF beg button. Part 1 covers the original 2024 build, and Part 2 covers this year’s rewrite of the software. This post is about the hardware side: a set of Walk/Stop lights I picked up, and getting them properly mounted in time for EMF.
The Walk/Stop Lights
As mentioned before I aquired a set of Walk/Stop lights at some point in the last couple of years1. I got the lights home, and found out they had been quite heavily modified to work of a low voltage power supply, but the power supply was pretty old and ran hot, and the effect wasn’t great. I also realised I had no way of mounting it…
The Mount
A quick bit of FreeCad work later2, and a lot of planning to try and get the project to fit in my tiny little A1 Mini, solved by the last minute decition to use a hose clamp led to the following little moddle to mount the lights to my pole. Freecad render of the mount

Things I didn’t realiase about the light when designign this, was that the top hole and bottom hole are difference sizes. Luckly I noticed after printing the first part, and not after waiting for a second 7 hour print to finish.
PLA Creep
Less than one week before EMF I was getting the Beg button ready to mount on the

Final Thoughts, For Now
The project made it to EMF, sat outside our village for the event, and people played, and it was a good ice breaker still. Most people didn’t noteice
